The Liturgy Department hosted a workshop for the choristers at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Saturday 8 June.
Attended by about 100 choristers from 20 parishes, the workshop, which was facilitated by the Vicar of the Liturgy, Fr Paul Beukes, wrapped up with a Holy Mass by Fr Mbulelo.
He stressed in his homily that it was imperative for them to acquaint themselves with the day’s scripture readings before Mass and also strive to come up with innovations in their liturgical music so as to break the monotony in the congregation. He added that their music should seek to evoke a feeling of transfiguration in fellow parishioners.
Head of the Liturgy Department, Annastacia Mphuthi, thanking the choristers for having attended the workshop, encouraged them to get more faithful to join the music ministry at their parishes. She added that it is the way they present themselves musically in the parishes that would attract more parishioners to join the ministry.
