The Catholic Schools Office has announced that the 2012 Matric pupils and their school results have produced a record number of bachelor degree passes and distinction.
CSO director, Rosa Calaca said the results were pleasing, in particular, those of St Matthews, Soweto where four pupils achieved 26 distinctions. “It is indeed pleasing to see a smaller school doing so well,” she said. Another pupil who achieved under exceptional circumstances was Jonty de Freitas who achieved 5 distinctions. Sadly, his mother passed away a few days prior to his first exam and her funeral was held during the examinations.
The CSO is, “Catholic Schools Raising Standards”. Within the Catholic Network, the CSO will be continuing with its theme of “Care for the Child, Our Treasure, Our Future, Our Responsibility”, which will coincide with the finalisation of a safety policy that will provide additional guidance in ensuring the safety and wellbeingof the children entrusted to our care, said Calaca.
